You all know that budget beauty is near and dear to my heart. Mainly because I'm living the post college mid 20's awkward "I make a salary but i'm still broke" lifestyle. But I digress.
I know y'all ain't gonna listen to little ol' Lush, but today, i'm here to tell you about this BSS make up brand we've all been sleeping on. Me included.
There has not been 1 day that has gone by that I haven't picked up a product from this brand, and their latest addition to my faves list - The Perfection BB Cream - has solidified their forever place in my makeup bag.
Read below for my review of the BB cream, as well as their other Nicka K noteworthy products thats won't let you down!
Nicka K Perfection BB Cream
For some strange reason, BB creams for black girls is an anomaly that has yet to be solved.
BB Creams, AKA Beauty balms, are supposed to be moisturizers with added lightweight foundation coverage. It's supposed to be something you can throw on quickly, with your fingers even, that provides smoothness, evenness and moisture. Basically, if they ever made a good one.. every one would buy it.
For some reason, it has been terribly hard for companies to pinpoint a good formula and even harder to pinpoint a reasonable color range.
This is why I was incredibly surprised to find this gem hanging around the Bss for $2.99 (and have the audacity to be in my color - there are only 4 colors but they are for colored girls)!
This BB cream provides lightweight ultra moisturizing coverage. The consistency is similar to baby lotion - and it actually carries that light scent as well. The coverage of this BB cream is buildable - as you can see in these photos I have built it up to full coverage. While I wouldn't suggest doing this normally, the layers meshed effortlessly and did not look thick or take away from the skin like finish of the product.
The only cons I could name for this product is perhaps the size (I mean I really lathered it on - but thats on me lol, and its literally on $2-4). Also, if you have oily skin, you defintely want to use a mattifying priming agent under this BB cream and it can be super moisturizing, but its definitely work-with-able for the price.
All in all, this, along side Black Radiance True Complexion BB Cream, is the only BB cream I can trust. For me, this creamy formula is definitely better suited for my dry skin vs. that of black Radiance.
A few of my other faves..
All of the below products i've used without incident. I would defintely rate them 8+ in their ability to function as intended. The colors are fairly brilliant, no strange chemical smells, and for affordable products I find myself reaching for 1 or more of them daily!
Valentines day, for many plus size women, presents a host of problems pertaining to wardrobe. This starts with where to even find baby-daddy worthy pieces, and usually ends around “I can’t afford this.” Luckily, Walmart has come through and saved the day with their own savage collection 😂😍, which starts at 9.97.
Comfy Girl Lingerie
The body positivity market is at an all time high, meaning that access to the ultra racey ultra baddie lingerie we’ve all been waiting for, is growing. However, as we’ve seen with the recent Savage Fenty scandal, sometimes access isn’t really access . We think we’re being included, anddddd we’re really not.
But I digress.
For me, I’m all about affordability and functionality – and for this, Walmart has come allllll the way through with their latest line of soultry sleepwear (which did I mention starts at 10 dollars?) For some of you, this might be a lil demure if you're trying to make a baby daddy out of someone's son, BUT, for the price point, many of the other plus size companies crumble easily in comparison to what Walmart has offered from these sleepwear options.
I picked up a few robes and teddy's, and even a few lace sets (not pictured), be sure to click the photo - which is linked to the item - to shop or head on over to your local Wal-Mart Before its all gone!
**This series goes from size small - 3x and runs big.
Size, Fit & Fabric
I picked up a combination of 2X and 3X styles just to see how they fit and what looked best. Both sizes fit my 300lb apple shape flatteringly. These pieces are actually cut quite generously. If your trying to make a baby daddy, size down on the chemises. However, go with your true size or size up on the robes just for comfort!
The fabric is lightweight and smooth however is not too "cheapy" and flowed effortlessly over all my lumps bumps and rolls!
Pro's of Shopping Walmart?
So here are a few of my favorite features about this line!
1. Its all interchangeable/ mix and match. With 4 pieces you can make 8 outfits
2. If it gets ruined, its cheap, no tears!
3. Its comfy and not "cut off my circulation-y"
4. The colors are on trend! Yes!
If you need something a little more risque, try these lace combos from secret treasures!
Over the weekend I had the amazing opportunity to meet up with not 1, not 2, but 438 of my amazing boss babe internet friends.
Okay well it was more like 7, but still. Getting to meet people in person who you interact with daily is a big deal.
This weekend I got to meet up with 2 girls from from opposite ends of the country: Auntie pearl and Plussomehope; as well as ⅔ of the fluffy girl tribe (apyblog and the dean of fashion and beauty). We got to meet, compare notes, have mini photo shoots, enjoy the vibe of being surrounded by likeminded individuals, and most importantly, laugh.
As a small blogger in a small town, sometimesz its a little tricky getting people to support your journey or even understand what your trying to do. So being surround by people who also spend countless hours on their phones and computers typing up blogs, and talking into cameras, made me feel - well - not so cray cray. It made me feel valid.
On my way home from Atlanta, i was so excited to tell one of my business mentors about all the things I did and learned with these girls. In our conversation he let me know the 3 type of people you need surrounding you as you reach your goals. I'm passing this information onto you as the 3 type of goalfriends every boss babe needs:
#1: The "LushMomma" (Your Mentor)
No matter who you are or what you're doing, you always ALWAYS need a mentor. Even the most successful and richest of folk have mentors (its part of the reason they're both.)
Your Lush Mom is a boss’d up baddie who has already gained success in your area of expertise. She is willing to show you and guide you the way, give you advice, and support you in ways that people who are not in your field, can even understand. She is wiser than you, has more experience than you, and her primary goal is not to coddle you or boost your ego, rather provide you feedback and direction thats going to mold you into a boss B like her.
Now heres the disclaimer. You Lush Momma has to be someone who knows and agrees to be your mentor. In the age of the internet we have people blowing up left and right. While this can motivate us, it is not reasonable for us to expect true mentorship from people who don't even know we exist. It is natural to look to the top-top person in the game o be our mentors, but you need to find someone who is accessible to you, and most importantly, is dedicated to a long term friendship with you. Not just a quick tip here and there.
For me, this person is APY blog. Just inn watching her blog grow I have learned immensly, let alone the things she tell me to help me become a better content creator. She gives me the scoop on the things I need to do to grow my brand and she also cares about my physical and mental health. If I need anything, I can go to her!
#2 You Lush Dolls - Your Motivators
Your lush dolls are the group of girls who are right there with you. Their you Destinys child in the "Soldier" video! In their journey to reach their goals, they’re pretty much in the same position as you. Their hustlers, grinders, shakers and movers. These are the ladies who will stay up with you till 3am eating pizza on the floor while you plan your big break.
You call these ladies when you have a wild idea to see what they think. And most importantly, you collab with these ladies. You trade and test product, you promote each other, and you support them 100% , vice versa.
Your lush dolls may come from your different aspects of life. I have teacher lushdoll's who will listen to my 11pm standardized teaching rants. I have content creator dolls who make sure to actually read my blogs and click on my post to increase my engagement - (and I do the same for them). And I also have my bestfriend's, even though we all have different careers, were all young women with goals of working our way up, so when times get hard, they always answer the call.
Finding a group of Lushdolls is a little easier than finding mentors. just make sure that these girls are true authentic friends. One day, one of you might move past the stage that you are now both in, and you don't want anybody on your team who may harbor any jealousy or ill will!
3. Your Lush Juniors (Mentees)
Think about where you are in life. And think about how much further along you'd be if someone hd kept it 100 with you about how life goes, wayyy a long time ago.
If you had a mentor, or someone in your life supporting you, then you feel grateful for having someone in your corner. If you didn’t, then i bet you wish you had somebody around to tell you all the juice and help you avoid some of those obvious - not so obvious mistakes.
While your not required to be a mentor to any body, refusal to help those who were once in the same position as you just puts bad juju in the air .. (and in your karma.)
Now, you don’t have to mentor the whole blogger community on instagram, but if there is someone who reaches out to you, you identify with their journey and you want to see them succeed, go ahead and offer up your advice and support.
One day your mentees might surpass you, so you never want to be a mentor in someones life unless you are dedicated to their success and you're mentally prepared for them to surpass you.
For black women especially its integral that we build and establish these connections so that we can can succeed, boost those who are succeeding through the glass ceiling, and motivate those who never thought they could!
Enjoy a few more snaps of my Goalfriends below:
Safety disclaimer: Internet people are usually, regular people. Not kidnappers who are waiting to jump you in an alley. However, I must encourage that if your under the age of 18 you never meet with people from the internet, alone. Always go in groups, and meet in public places.

And i lost that too 😂
So 2019, What we gon do dawg?!
Watch below as I talk through it and be sure to comment below on your love life plans for 2019!
For many of us Fashionistas (or at least us wanna be's) , the winter time opens up an ultra level of styling options. This is the only time of year we can don winter coats and boots and hats ... and my personal favorite: FUR. The great thing about winter is that you can go all out, but if you're just coming into you personal style, the inundation of options can be a little overwhelming. Never fear, Auntie Lush is here with your Ultimate " Winter Bougie" guide that will tell you the key pieces you need to take your winter looks from "all I want for christmas 🤔" to "Santa baby😍 (on a budget of course)."
If you don't know what a peacoat is (see above photo); it is characterized as being a thick wool coat typically with double breasted buttons, side pockets and a large collar. Before I get started with why you really really need a peacoat, let me just say this: if investing in a peacoat for the first I would highly suggest you go for high quality black wool. However, if your on a budget, you can find some fairly good priced ones Burlington coat factory and jcpenny. If you don't have a peacoat here is why you need one: 1. It is usually a heavy weight jacket that will actually keep you warm 2. They never go out of style 3. You don't need to replace it year to year 4. Did I mention IT LITERALLY NEVER GOES OUT OF STYLE 5. The style and Fabric makes it compatible with other winter accessories, especially scarves and gloves!
A fur vest can take any Jeans and T-shirt outfit from "Mom's day out" to Slay bosss instantly. And luckily for you, pretty much any young adult fast fashion shop has them in any color you want at any pricepoint. (They literally have the faux sherpa ones at walmart for $10). To avoid looking to "rainbows" junior, I would suggest getting a classic white or black fur vest that you can pair with any outfit to elevate your bouginess.
Knit gloves say "I'm practical. My hands are cold, I need to warm them". Leather gloves say, "Valet, pull my rover around please" 😂. The wintertime is all about accessorizing: by elevating your typical winter accessories - like scarves and gloves - to premium fabrics, you are thus elevating your entire look.
Maybe it's just me, but there is something so classic looking about a beret, and on the plus size, you can throw this on when your wig is not split! A beret is the most socially acceptable bougie hat.
Over The Knee Boots
Now, for big feet-wide calf girls like myself these may not be so easy to find, but like everything on this list, all you need is one good pair to elevate any jean or even legging ensemble from "running around town" to "steal your baby daddy". I personally would suggest a riding boot style for the most versatility and comfort so you can make the moment last all day.
Black Out Glasses
This is all you need to know. Only the fashionable rock sunglasses in the winter. They are not for blocking the sun. They are for blocking all the non-bougie hating peasants beneath you. Go to TJ MAXX and invest in a pair of oversized dark shade glasses, NOW. Also, They protect your eyes from watering in the cold winter wind. Your Welcome.
Other "Winter Bougie" Tips:
1. Layers - The more layers, the more bougie.
2. Stick to solid winter fabrics and classic prints (avoid fadish holiday prints, overly colored items etc)
3. Elevate your accessories - you don't need a whole new wardrobe
4. Don't neglect your skin care and update your winter routine so your face, hands, and cuticles stay moisturized.
5. The winter time is a great time to try a new hairstyle (because hats are in style, duh!)
